Visual Media Focus September 09

Welcome to the latest edition of VisualMedia Focus and your chance to win £100 worth of Selfridges vouchers. See the end of this newsletter for more details.

So June came and went and along with it dreams of a World Cup victory after 44 years of hurt fade into distant memory. And what was to blame? Yes, video technology, or rather the lack of it in being able to overturn the worst refereeing decision of the tournament. That of course and the fact that we were generally rubbish!

Despite all eyes being on the beautiful (or not so) beautiful game, we were once again extremely busy helping clients with their video decisions and a small selection of our work from last month can be seen below. Our photography rates start at £295 and video production starts from as little as £1250 filmed and edited, so as always, if you have any visual communications projects that you’d like to discuss, please get in touch.

Kind Regards,

Aviva Investors Global Summit
Aviva Investors Global Summit - Filming

Aviva Investors held their global summit for 120 senior managers in June and VisualMedia provided on-site filming and post-production facilities. Working closely with the internal communications team, we produced around 20 short films over the 3 day period consisting of vox-pops, interviews and general view material. Each piece was filmed, edited and uploaded to a micro-site within a couple of hours, thus providing regular updates from the summit to all staff.

Take One Small Step Barclays One Small Step - Photography

VisualMedia were assigned through their retained agency 77PR to photograph the owners of three businesses across each of 10 UK regions who had all made it to the final of the Barclays Business Take One Small Step competition. We had a Sunday and Monday to photograph all of the finalists but didn’t know the locations until the Friday beforehand. Utilising our extensive network of photographers around the UK, 30 photographers were deployed to photograph each business idea with finished files being delivered to VisualMedia for editing and captioning. The client had all of the images back to them by their required deadline of Tuesday morning.

Hacks vs Flaks Hacks vs Flaks Summer Sports Day - Photography

A beautiful sunny day made for the perfect backdrop for photography of the nailbiting Hacks vs Flaks annual summer sports day at which VisualMedia is a longstanding sponsor. In a reversal of last year’s fortunes, the Flaks won both cricket and rounders matches. £15,000 was raised for St Christopher’s Hospice and Laureus and former England captain Michael Vaughan was on hand to give out the prizes. A full set of images can be viewed here.

Buchanan / Plastics Capital PLC Buchanan / Plastics Capital PLC - Filming

Buchanan’s client Plastics Capital PLC is a plastics products manufacturing business, focused on proprietary products for niche markets. Having found the business model complicated to explain to journalists and investors, Buchanan commissioned VisualMedia to produce a 5 minute corporate video. This would explain in layman’s terms the different plastic products that each factory produces, and why their products are so niche. We sent a cameraman and a producer director to each of the four UK factories, capturing shots of the machinery and interviewing the manager of each factory about the products they specialise in. The resulting video makes for a sleek summary of the company, its products, and its management team.

Cake PR Sainsburys Cake PR / Sainsbury’s Corporate Responsibility - Filming

Sainsbury’s has just announced its intention to plant 2 million trees over the next five years through its work with the Woodland Trust. Cake helped Sainsbury’s bring this news to life by creating a unique tree house store at Hainault Forest, Chigwell. Cake commissioned Visual Media to capture the entire building process of the Sainsbury’s tree house and create a short time lapse film which they could upload to YouTube and send out to the press for use on their online news sites.
